Dear Friends of Japan in the Midwest,

Happy New Year to each and every one of you!

As we embark on a new year, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for your dedication to strengthening the bonds between Japan and the United States.

Whatever connection you have with Japan, your passion for fostering friendship between our two nations has been invaluable.

Your unique stories and experiences provide me with invaluable insights and inspiration, reminding me of the vibrant and multifaceted nature of our relationship.  I am committed to approaching every interaction with humility and diligence, learning from each encounter.

2025 promises to be an exciting year for Japan-U.S. relations. With the MLB opening game between the Cubs and the Dodgers in Tokyo in March and the Osaka World Expo from April to October, there will be many opportunities to experience the best of both our countries.  I encourage you to visit Japan and experience firsthand the rich culture, stunning natural beauty, and renowned Japanese hospitality.
