We are now accepting applications for the 2026 Japanese American Leadership Delegation to Japan.
Overview
The Japanese American Leadership Delegation (JALD) program provides the opportunity for a select group of Japanese American leaders from across the United States to travel to Japan to engage with Japanese leaders in the business, government, academic, non-profit and cultural sectors. JALD is sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and coordinated in partnership with the U.S. Japan Council (USJC).
How to Apply
Individuals selected must be able to travel to Japan from March 6 – March 14, 2026, and attend a mandatory orientation in Los Angeles on January 30 – January 31, 2026.
Applicants residing within our Consulate’s jurisdiction should submit applications to the Consulate General of Japan in Chicago via e-mail by Sunday, August 31, 2025.
Please see the linked Embassy and Consulates list for the appropriate e-mail. Applicants are also required to send a copy of their application via-email to the U.S.-Japan Council: amurata@usjapancouncil.org.
Our office’s jurisdiction covers in total 10 states — Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
