The Japan Information Center will host the Urasenke Chicago Association's annual Tatezome New Year Tea Gathering to welcome 2006, the Year of the Dog. The first tea of the new year will be prepared in the JIC's tearoom, which will be specially decorated for the new year. All guests will be served the traditional new year sweet called hanabira mochi and a delicious bowl of matcha, green powdered tea. Following the tea, there will be a Japanese obento box lunch.
